Home gyms are a definite consideration when your fitness goal is to increase toning or overall strength. In combination with a cardio component, the home gym is also beneficial
for supporting goals of weight loss.
If you are a serious body builder focused on muscles, and more muscles, you may find free weights to be a better solution for your home gym equipment. There are, however, home gyms available to meet these specific needs, such as power racks, power cages or smith machines.
For everyone else, one of the three total gym solutions can be of great benefit.
Traditional home gyms use weight stacks for the resistance and have multiple stations to complete different exercises. Typically, the larger the home gym, the larger the number of exercise options available to you. Some have space for a second bench and weight stack allowing someone else to workout with you at the same time. These tend to have the largest footprint or space requirement.
A second home gym equipment type uses your own body weight as resistance. A cable and pulley system allows you to glide back and forth as you lay on a moveable board. Where you have space concerns, these machines are moveable and easier to store away.
A third type of strength training equipment uses bendable power rods or stretching rubber bands for your resistance. Typically less expensive than a traditional gym, home gym reviews do have cautions about the potential for breaking bands with this type of machine.
Whichever home gym model you prefer, the most important is usage. Knowing you will be using your machine often, consider the type of construction and quality of components the manufacturer uses in building their home gyms. Multi station home gyms would be the investment for lifetime.
The best home gyms are available to you online and the benefits of universal gyms will soon outweigh the price you paid in the beginning.
